An Inside Look at the Learjet 70

Learjet 70

In 2012, Bombardier announced development of a new light
business jet
. The Learjet 70 received FAA Certification by 2013 and flew its first flight in 2014. The Learjet 70 is an enhanced version of the Learjet 40, offering notable upgrades to its predecessor. Learjets have always been synonymous with best-in-class business jets, so it is no surprise the Learjet 70 continues to fulfill that legacy.

The Learjet 70’s performance capabilities are quite impressive. With a range of 2371 statute miles and the capability to reach speeds of 534 mph, this jet can travel to more destinations without a fuel stop.
Another impressive feature of this aircraft is its ability to quickly reach high altitudes above the weather, offering a smoother flying experience for passengers. With precise landing gear, this jet can comfortably handle shorter runways with ease. Powerful engines and a new winglet design are just a few examples of advancements that make the Learjet 70 a great choice for charter.

Learjet 70 interior

The cabin of the Learjet 70 measures 17′ 8″ in length, 4′ 11″ in height, and 5′ 1″ in width. This aircraft comfortably seats 6-7
passengers, has stunning interior details and offers all of the
technology needed to conduct business in the sky.  The wider cabin makes for a more relaxing flight with ample legroom to stretch out and relax. Executive tables and pop-up monitors in the forward club section offer passengers a comfortable work environment. In
addition, the Learjet 70 has a redesigned galley with more work and storage space for meal service. There is also an aft lavatory on board with a sink and vanity mirror. The Learjet 70 has an external baggage compartment that provides 50 cubic feet of baggage space and
another 15 cubic feet of internal storage. The Learjet 70 truly
embodies the next generation of light business jets.

Learjet 70

Pilots are equally as impressed with the Learjet 70. According to Bombardier, “The Bombardier Learjet 70 business jet offers industry leading avionics that ensure superior value and a superlative pilot
experience in all phases of flight. The result is a spacious, well-organized setting for maximum pilot productivity, safety, and convenience. Everything pilots need to know while flying – data, instruments, systems, avionics functions, maps, and weather – is in view and at their fingertips.”

What Your Jet Card Doesn’t Want You to Know

Are you new to private aviation? Have you ever heard of round trip pricing? Probably not. Over the past few years all the major
membership companies have phased it out.

Who wins? Jet Card/Jet Membership Company

Who loses? You

Let’s look at the example of a same-day trip from New York (TEB) to Indianapolis (IND). You depart at 9:00 AM and you return at 4:00 PM. The trip is just about 2 hours in each direction so it serves as a great example for other same-day destinations. You have 4
passengers and you prefer to fly in a midsize aircraft.

It doesn’t matter which program you are in: Delta, Sentient Jet, Net Jets, Wheels Up, etc. Your hourly cost for a midsize jet is $7,000 per hour all in, billed at actual flight time plus taxi-time. In fact, it’s
actually a few hundred dollars more per hour, but the cost
difference is so extreme we actually rounded down!

Jet Card/Jet Membership (Hawker 800XP, Citation XL)

Depart: 9:00 AM    TEB-IND

Arrive: 11:00 AM    (2 hours flight time)

Depart: 4:00 PM     IND-TEB

Arrive: 6:00 PM       (2 hours flight time)

Price:  4 Hours Total Flight Time x $7,000 per hour = $28,000

FlyPrivate  (Hawker 800XP, Citation XL, Hawker 1000, Citation Sovereign)

Depart: 9:00 AM    TEB-IND

Arrive: 11:00 AM    (2 hours flight time)

Depart: 4:00 PM     IND-TEB

Arrive: 6:00 PM       (2 hours flight time)

At FlyPrivate, we will provide you with several midsize options (in this example trip, we also had super midsize jet availability for the same price).

You will know your full cost before you fly. We price by the trip, not by the hour, upfront and fixed. This method allows us to leverage the marketplace to get you the best pricing and aircraft options.

Price: 4 Hours Total Flight Time x $4,842 per hour = $19,368 *all in

Citation XL:  $19,368

Hawker 800XP: $19,368

Hawker 1000: $19,368

Citation Sovereign: $19,368 (super midsize jet)

Analysis:

Same-Day Trip

Jet Card:       TEB-IND-TEB           Midsize Jet = $28,000

FlyPrivate:    TEB-IND-TEB           Midsize Jet = $19,368

Savings with FlyPrivate: $8,632  (30.8%)

Conclusion:

As previously stated, the major membership companies have phased out round trip pricing, to benefit themselves, not their clients like you. A couple of these jet card/membership companies offer you a 10-15% discount on some trips, but they are still gouging you by 30%, so a 12% give back now and then, makes everyone feel good.

Let us state this VERY clearly: You are overpaying by 30% for the SAME TRIP ON THE SAME AIRCRAFT.

Here is another secret. FlyPrivate and all of the major membership companies, use the same Part 135 charter aircraft.

In case it didn’t sink in the first time – YOU ARE OVERPAYING BY 30% FOR THE SAME AIRCRAFT!

Don’t continue down this path, now that you have been educated on this topic, please contact us for your next “round trip” itinerary and we will provide you with the options.

With our service, you only “Pay as You Fly”.

Join other experienced private fliers who have shed their
membership and regained their capital. Over the past 15 years we have saved our clients millions of dollars and allowed them to fly hundreds more trips with the savings.

Welcome,

Don Smith

P.S. Your “one-way” itineraries will also cost you less for the SAME AIRCRAFT.

Count on the Versatile Challenger 604

Challenger 604

The Bombardier Challenger 604 was first certified in 1995 as an
upgrade to previous models in the Challenger family of business jets. The Challenger 604 offers many refinements from earlier
Challenger 600 models and thus has become one of the most sought after and versatile jets in the heavy jet category. The impressive speed, range, comfort and style provide a superior value for business and leisure travelers alike.

The Challenger 604 is a very powerful aircraft with two General Electric CF34-3B engines that allow it to fly coast-to-coast and to some destinations abroad without refueling. This aircraft has a range of around 4,000 nautical miles with 8 passengers on board, at an average speed of 528 mph. The Challenger 604 features
state-of-the-art avionics, a glass cockpit, turbulence detection radar, and 6 multifunction display screens, amongst other pilot-friendly features.

The cabin of the Challenger 604 is very spacious with 6.1 feet of standing height and measures over 8.2 feet in width. The cabin space can be configured into a 12-passenger conference space or in a
double-club, forward or half club, or divan arrangement. This
aircraft will accommodate 10-12 passengers comfortably as well as 2 crew members and a flight attendant. The Challenger 604 also has a generous baggage compartment providing 115 cubic feet of
external storage that is accessible during flight. With a fully enclosed lavatory, a first class catering galley, entertainment center, and low cabin noise levels, it is no surprise that the Challenger 604 is a
favorite of many private fliers.

As with many Challenger models, the 604 is a great option for any discerning traveler seeking the ultimate experience in comfort, value, dependability and performance in a heavy jet.

Meet the Citation Sovereign

Citation Sovereign Exterior

The Cessna Citation Sovereign was first unveiled in 1998 at the
annual NBAA Convention, but it wasn’t until 2002 that the first
Sovereign took flight. Created to bridge the gap between the
Citation Excel/XLS and the Citation X, the Sovereign falls in the
Super Midsize Jet class and offers many impressive features.

The Citation Sovereign was designed to offer exceptional overall performance, while also providing unrivaled comfort and amenities for passengers. The Sovereign’s spacious interior is over 24 feet long and offers many amenities typical of a Heavy Jet, such as a full size refreshment center, several entertainment options and a full size lavatory. It can seat up to 8 passengers comfortably and the cabin height is tall enough at 5′ 8″ that most people can stand up. The
baggage space in the Citation Sovereign is unmatched compared to other Super Midsize Jets with 132 cubic feet of baggage space.Citation Sovereign Interior

The Citation Sovereign has a truly impressive range with its coast-to-coast capabilities. The long range makes the Sovereign a
customer favorite because it compares to a Heavy Jet, but is more economical as far as fuel economy. It performs exceptionally well at high elevations and is very capable of take-off and landing from shorter runways.

Citation Sovereigns are also a favorite of pilots because of it’s many automatic features and easy handling.  With an improved wing
design that drastically improves airflow and lift capabilities, the
Sovereign is able to cruise  at speeds of .75 Mach.  It is equipped with Pratt & Whitney Canada PW306C turbofan engines that are flat-rates to minimize noise pollution, and provide 5,600 lbs of thrust during takeoff. From the landing gear to the brake system and unique variable gearing mechanism that adjusts the jet’s flaps to optimal angles during flight, the Citation Sovereign is hard to beat in overall performance, comfort, versatility, and range.

Experience Luxury in the Learjet 45

Learjet45

The Bombardier Learjet 45 was first introduced at the US National Business Aircraft Association’s annual convention in 1992, and the first consumer aircraft was delivered in 1998. The Learjet 45 was designed to replace the Learjet 35 and offers the classic Learjet
layout with enhanced and improved design features. In 2004, the Learjet 45 evolved into the Learjet 45XR which offers an upgraded engine and improved climbing performance.

The Learjet 45, and newer Learjet 45XR, are categorized within the Light Jet class, but offer many of the features and benefits found in Midsize Jets. When looking at performance, the Learjet 45 excels in both high and low speed handling, runway performance and fuel
efficiency. On the interior, the Learjet 45 was designed to offer the most passenger space possible for a light jet.

Learjet 45 Interior

The Learjet 45’s cabin can accommodate 8 passengers and a flightcrew of two. The additional legroom, galley storage, full width aft restroom, and wider than average seats offer passengers a
comfortable and practical experience. This jet also offers work
tables that fold down from the walls and a quiet, temperature
controlled cabin, ideal for working from the air. The Learjet 45 has an external baggage compartment that provides 50 cubic feet of baggage space and another 15 cubic feet of internal storage. The Honeywell Primus 1000 avionics suite comes standard on the
Learjet 45XR and includes a 3-D approach navigation system.

When comparing the cruise performance, the Learjet 45 is top in its class. It can cruise at speeds of 465 mph and is able to fly 1,824
nautical miles nonstop. This jet also offers the most advanced anti-ice system of any light or midsize jet, can complete a 1,000
nautical mile trip in just over 2 hours, and the 904-gallon fuel system can be filled rapidly in about 10 minutes, offering very quick
turnaround. The Learjet 45 really shines at cruise altitude and offers exceptional handling capabilities, as well as fuel economy. The
Learjet 45 and Learjet 45XR are great options for anyone looking for a cost-effective light jet that offers superior performance.

Flying Private to The Masters© 2017

Photo courtesy of The Masters© Golf Tournament

The Masters© Golf Tournament is right around the corner and the Augusta National Golf Club is not the only place in the Augusta area busy preparing for the festivities to be held April 3-9, 2017. If you’re planning to use private aviation to get you to and from the
action on the fairway, it is imperative that you plan ahead. With
thousands of private aircraft expected to be traveling through two of the most popular local FBOs, Augusta Regional Airport (AGS) and Aiken Aviation Enterprises (AIK), flights book quickly and arrival slots and parking is limited.

We had the chance to interview Kenneth Hinkle, Director of Aviation Services at AGS and Tessa Ready, Customer Service Supervisor at AIK, to ask them what passengers should expect when flying into the area during The Masters© week. They also gave us an inside look at what it takes to prepare for such a large international event and how they will accommodate all of the additional travelers.
Enjoy!

FlyPrivate®: “What are you doing to prepare for the influx of
traffic expected during The Masters© tournament?”

AGS Director of Aviation Services, Kenneth Hinkle: “We start the
planning process as early as August. We review items from the previous year’s event and continually make tweaks to the operations to ensure that the proper staffing levels and supplies are sufficient. We have
implemented an aircraft parking reservation system which will help
maximize ramp space utilization.”

AIK Customer Service Supervisor, Tessa Ready: “To prepare for the influx of traffic during The Masters tournament Aiken Aviation takes many steps to ensure a convenient and pleasurable experience for each
individual. Aiken Aviation brings in additional fuel trucks for speedy
fueling, additional transportation to transport passengers and pilots to and from their aircraft if needed, and the line and customer service hours are extended to accommodate those arriving or departing outside of our normal operating hours.”

FlyPrivate®: “Do you plan to ramp up staff for the event? If so,
approximately by how much?”

AGS: “Yes, we bring in additional fuelers and customer service support. We normally operate with 15 employees but that number increases to 65 during Master’s week.”

AIK: “Aiken Aviation is doubling its staff for the event in order to swiftly and professionally accommodates each aircraft.”

Photo courtesy of The Masters© Golf Tournament

FlyPrivate®: “On average, how many flights in and out of AGS and AIK do you expect during these dates?”

AGS: “Last year Augusta Regional Airport had about 2000 operations during the week and were expecting a slight improvement for this year.”

AIK: “Last year Aiken Aviation had a little over 400 arrivals during the week of The Masters. This year we are looking forward to another great week of flights.”

FlyPrivate®: “Which dates are the most popular for flights?
(i.e. What are the busiest days?)”

AGS: “Thursday is probably the busiest day because it’s the first official day for tournament play followed by the last day, Sunday evening. It’s hustle and bustle to ensure that every flight is ready for departure. It’s an amazing site to see airplanes departing one right after another.”

AIK: “The latter part of the week is the most popular for flights, when the practice rounds are over and the rounds take place on that Thursday,
Friday, Saturday and Sunday.”

FlyPrivate®: “Do you have any preferred vendors you would
recommend?”

AGS: “I couldn’t pick just one, because they all do a nice job, but what I can say is that the southern hospitality will definitely be in full effect!”

FlyPrivate®: (Check out the Masters Housing Bureau for properties to rent during your visit to The Masters©.)

AIK: “Aiken Aviation recommends Enterprise Rent-A-Car service as they will be on site that week for all your needs. There are many wonderful hotels in the area such as the Town Place Suites and the Hilton Garden Inn, just to name a few.  Downtown Aiken offers beautiful scenery with an array of unique and delicious eateries from coffee shops, diners and delis to three course gourmet restaurants.”

Photo courtesy of The Masters© Golf Tournament

FlyPrivate®: “Is there anything else you would like our readers to know about AGS and AIK that may be helpful when planning their trip?”

AGS: “Plan carefully and super early with respect to lodging, and
transportation. Most importantly enjoy your golf experience, most people never get the opportunity.”

AIK: “It is a pleasant surprise at how easy and convenient it is to fly in and out of Aiken, plus we are an easy, non-congested drive (about 27 minutes) on Interstate 20 to get to the Augusta National Golf Course. Our prompt and personalized attention along with our Southern hospitality is always a delight. We are well-known for our superior customer service and we will strive to make all trips to Aiken, SC a memorable one.”

Cheers for the Citation Bravo

Citation Bravo

The Cessna Citation Bravo was first certified in 1996 as an upgrade to the best-selling Citation II. With a number of improved features, this light jet is a favorite among customers looking for convenience and comfort.

The Citation Bravo has a long range when compared to other light jets, able to travel 1484 statute miles non-stop, easily flying from New York to Miami for example. The Bravo cruises at average speeds of 466 mph and offers impressive short runway capabilities, allowing it to be chartered in and out of smaller airports closer to your destination. While its costs are similar to the Citation II, it
surpasses it significantly in performance, using far less fuel per hour. The heightened performance of the Citation Bravo is largely due to the Pratt & Whitney turbofan engines and the Bravo was the first light jet to be equipped with them. New landing gear also makes landings much smoother than comparable jets, even on uneven pavement.

Citation Bravo

In terms of comfort, the Citation Bravo is at the top of its class. The engineers designed the Bravo to have a quiet cabin with insulation and isolated interior shell to eliminate engine noise, while a seal on the cabin door eliminates wind noise. The Bravo can accommodate seven passengers with club seating, and has a partial galley as well as a lavatory on board. The cabin measures 15′ 10″ in length, 4′ 9″ in height and 4′ 10″ in width. The baggage space in the Citation Bravo is generous at 78 cubic feet and can hold several suitcases and gold bags. There is also additional storage in drawers under the seats.

Citation Bravos are well liked among pilots because they are an easy jet to fly and can be flown solo. Pre-flight, service and
maintenance procedures were also designed to aid the flight crew, while the cockpit is equipped with systems to relay traffic
information, radar to watch the weather and digital maps. Between the unmatched operating costs and passenger comforts, it is easy to see why the Citation Bravo is a passenger and pilot favorite.
