Meet the Citation Sovereign

Citation Sovereign Exterior

The Cessna Citation Sovereign was first unveiled in 1998 at the
annual NBAA Convention, but it wasn’t until 2002 that the first
Sovereign took flight. Created to bridge the gap between the
Citation Excel/XLS and the Citation X, the Sovereign falls in the
Super Midsize Jet class and offers many impressive features.

The Citation Sovereign was designed to offer exceptional overall performance, while also providing unrivaled comfort and amenities for passengers. The Sovereign’s spacious interior is over 24 feet long and offers many amenities typical of a Heavy Jet, such as a full size refreshment center, several entertainment options and a full size lavatory. It can seat up to 8 passengers comfortably and the cabin height is tall enough at 5′ 8″ that most people can stand up. The
baggage space in the Citation Sovereign is unmatched compared to other Super Midsize Jets with 132 cubic feet of baggage space.Citation Sovereign Interior

The Citation Sovereign has a truly impressive range with its coast-to-coast capabilities. The long range makes the Sovereign a
customer favorite because it compares to a Heavy Jet, but is more economical as far as fuel economy. It performs exceptionally well at high elevations and is very capable of take-off and landing from shorter runways.

Citation Sovereigns are also a favorite of pilots because of it’s many automatic features and easy handling.  With an improved wing
design that drastically improves airflow and lift capabilities, the
Sovereign is able to cruise  at speeds of .75 Mach.  It is equipped with Pratt & Whitney Canada PW306C turbofan engines that are flat-rates to minimize noise pollution, and provide 5,600 lbs of thrust during takeoff. From the landing gear to the brake system and unique variable gearing mechanism that adjusts the jet’s flaps to optimal angles during flight, the Citation Sovereign is hard to beat in overall performance, comfort, versatility, and range.

Understanding Hourly Rates

Understanding ambiguous membership fees

In order to operate a national jet charter program with a fixed hourly rate structure, you must devise an hourly rate that can provide a profitable operation, which accounts for the use of all the
members/card holders. For example, customers based in Seattle, WA, Santa Fe, NM, or Birmingham, AL (where there are not as many private fliers) would pay the same rate as someone who lives in the Northeast, Midwest or Florida where there are more private fliers.

In constructing an hourly rate, these private aviation companies have to forecast what a customer might do, not what they actually do. In other words, if you live in an area with heavier traffic, you
subsidize the travel of those who live in less populated areas.

Unfortunately, upfront memberships with fixed hourly rate
programs are not profitable and the fixed hourly rates associated with them have plenty of gray areas in which to bill you more hours than needed.

How do membership programs do this?

1. Membership programs bill you for actual flight time. This may sound like a great idea, but when you are vectored around for weather, or experience headwinds, you are billed for more hours. Occasionally, you may win with an extreme tail wind, but not too
often. Another little known secret is that there is NO way to verify accurate billing. Even the FAA flight feeds are inaccurate and
operators calculate flight time entirely differently than how
customers are billed. The customer books and flies and the cost is debited directly from their account. The customer doesn’t see the actual cost until well after the trip. Most times the person who is
responsible for payment of the trip did not fly on the aircraft, so they have no idea if the information is accurate. The result is a seemingly low hourly rate, compensated by a higher flight time.

2. Membership programs add fuel surcharges into their billing. Most jet cards or programs discovered the fuel surcharge as a convenient way to add to the cost of a flight. They did this by adding the “fuel surcharge” to the “actual flight time” to increase company
profitability. There was no relationship between fuel costs and the surcharge. Over time customers got wise to this because fuel
surcharges never went away, even when prices went down. Today, the providers of the Jet Cards now include the fuel surcharges in the hourly rate, and many will fix the prices for the year. However, there are huge disparities between the cost of jet fuel throughout the United States. In an inverse relationship to hourly rates, people who live in areas with low fuel costs subsidize those in areas with high fuel costs.

The Deposit or Pre-Payment

Each card program requires a deposit in order for you to “lock in” the previously discussed “hourly rate”. They need your funds to run their operation. These funds go towards advertising and sales
commissions, and the lump sum deposits go a long way towards
easing cash flow. It is not free to put your company name on a
professional golfer’s hat. The large sum of deposits help to cover up operational losses but sooner or later, the bills come due. These
programs are either sold (if there is enough cash on hand to make it attractive to another “investor”) or the company is forced to fold. Many have no choice but to fold and there are no refunds. We are very pleased to tell you that there is a better alternative.

What do we do? How does our service benefit our customers?

1. We will never ask you to pay a deposit to access our service. With FlyPrivate, you will pay as you fly for each trip. You may use 25 or 50 hours, or you may go over. Our service allows you to control the use and flow of your capital.

2. We quote by the trip, not by the hour. At FlyPrivate, we offer all-inclusive “fixed pricing”, pre-trip. You know what you’re paying for and how much you will be spending before the trip, not after. There are no additional flight charges after the fact. You will also benefit from our round trip pricing, which often makes your trip more cost effective. Most jet cards have done away with round trip pricing and bill at one-way costs all the time.

3. At FlyPrivate, we also offer multiple aircraft options on each trip. Choose from Turboprops, VLJs, Light, Midsize, Super Midsize, and Heavy jets. You can use any class of jet anytime, without
complicated interchanges or other arrangements having to be made.

4. You also benefit from the leverage we employ on behalf of our customers. For 12 years we have worked with hundreds of FAA safety audited operators and their aircraft. These relationships
provide exceptional opportunities for all of our customers.

“dispatch-reliability rating higher than 99.8 percent,” according to Gulfstream. Versatility is a mainstay of the Gulfstream G150. This aircraft offers ample cabin space, a cockpit equipped with advanced flight deck technology, and is able to fly coast to coast in just 6 hours.

The G150 can travel non-stop over 3,400 statute miles at a cruise speed of 500 mph. With a forward galley, taller side walls that
provide generous head room, and a fully enclosed lavatory, the G150 specializes in passenger comforts. There is also 80 cubic feet of baggage space allowing passengers to bring their golf bags while still leaving room for additional luggage. “Closets at the front and the rear of the plane offer enough storage for anything one might need to access in-flight.”

Gulfstream 150 Interior

The Gulfstream G150 sets the standard for both versatility and
efficiency. The G150 can seat up to 8 people at max capacity in a number of different configurations, some with sleeping
arrangements. The cabin is ideal for conducting business on the go with advanced soundproofing technologies that cuts outside noise significantly. To combat fatigue and contribute to passenger
comfort, fresh air is circulated around the cabin every two minutes. The 11 oval windows allow for more natural light in the cabin giving it a more spacious feel and making for a more enjoyable ride.

Gulfstream 150

The interior of the Gulfstream G150 is 465 cubic feet, with a cabin height of 5′ 9″, width of 5′ 9″ and length of 17′ 8″. Many G150s come standard with other cabin technologies including: a

Take Your Next Trip in a Falcon 50

Falcon 50 The Falcon 50 is often used a cost effective alternative to a heavy jet. This jet features a galley with plenty of space for meal service, a fully enclosed lavatory, enough baggage space to accommodate 8 full-size suitcases or sets of golf clubs, and often comes equipped with a cabin attendant and Wi-Fi. The cabin is very comfortable with leather chairs, fold-out tables, and couch seating. The quiet cabin makes the Falcon 50 ideal for business meetings or just relaxing.

The Dassault Falcon 50 is a super midsize jet designed to meet the demand and need for an aircraft that could travel non-stop, coast to coast. The Falcon 50 is the Falcon family’s first transoceanic aircraft based on the earlier design of the Falcon 20. The Falcon 50 typically seats 9 and can travel 3,500 nautical miles at average speeds up to 496 mph. It also offers impressive runway performance,
requiring only a short takeoff distance.

The Falcon 50 was produced after a complete redesign of the wings of the Falcon 20 and contains three jet engines instead of the two jet engines on board the Falcon 20. This made the Falcon 50 the world’s first civilian jet with supercritical wings to minimize drag and noise pollution, a breakthrough technology for the time.

Falcon 50The Falcon 50 EX, an upgraded version of the Falcon 50, was later introduced and designed to fly a bit higher and faster than the
original Falcon 50, while also reducing fuel consumption by about 7%.

Gulfstream G280 Interior

In 2009, Gulfstream Aerospace’s G280 took its first flight, and since has become a very popular jet in the super midsize category. The G280 was designed with the input of many existing Gulfstream
customers on their Customer Advisory Board. Some notable
enhancements include: a new wing, tail, engine and an updated
interior. The jet also features the Gulfstream PlaneView 280 cockpit developed from the Rockwell Collins’ Pro Line Fusion avionics suite. According to Gulfstream, “A newly designed long, sleek wing and high-thrust engines increase range and speed, yet fuel economy is so well maximized the G280 has earned best-in-class fuel efficiency.”

A Super-Mid Favorite: Challenger 300

Challenger 300

The Challenger 300, made by Canadian manufacturer Bombardier, delivers a large cabin aircraft with lower direct operating costs than anything else in the super-midsize jet category. According to
Bombardier, “the aircraft was crafted for true U.S. coast-to-coast range and features unmatched room in which to conference and work.” Customers rave about the cabin size. It is longer than a
Challenger 604 and as wide as a Gulfstream IV for additional space and comfort.

Challenger 300

When launching the concept in Paris in 1997, Bombardier revealed it had done unprecedented research into operator needs for a jet of this size. Initially called The Continental for it’s long range
performance, it was renamed the Challenger 300 at NBAA 2002 and received its certification in 2003. To date, Bombardier has delivered more than 150 different models of aircraft.

An exceptional value, the Challenger 300 seats eight passengers and is equipped with state of the art entertainment systems. It can travel travel non-stop over 3,527 statute miles at a cruise speed of 528 mph.

Challenger 300

The interior of the Challenger 300 has a wide, flat floor and enough height (6’1″) for most passengers to stand-up in the cabin, creating a comfortable and productive environment for passengers. The cabin also contains a galley perfect for snacks and light meal service, a state-of-the-art NICE® (Network Integrated Cabin Equipment) electronics system, a full lavatory, and other impressive features for conducting business such as satellite telephones, electrical outlets, two 20” widescreen LCD monitors, a DVD/CD player, and iPod unit that are all standard to the aircraft. This jet also has ample baggage space and in-flight access to a large internal baggage compartment.

Jet Puzzle? Solved!

FlyPrivateWhen it comes to reoccurring use of a private jet, there are many options.

You can own the entire jet with full control, you can purchase
fractional ownership, you can secure a fixed number of hours in a single aircraft or join an access membership.

All options sound easy but all require that you tie up substantial
capital to forecast (an inexact science) future use.

What if you fly more? Fly less? Need a different size jet in a different part of the country? What if you have a round trip? What if you have a one-way? Now it is not so simple, now it is a puzzle!

What if there was a way not to tie up your money in some type of jet access or with some kind of long term commitment and only get a jet when you need a jet – and have hundreds of different types of jets to choose from? And what if you only paid when you used a jet with no long term financial commitment or no required money to spend
before you need a jet?

Well here’s some good news – there is! I don’t know your situation but I do know this. You CAN have it all! No long term commitment. No paying the overhead associated programs. The jet you need and only when you need it. What could be better than that?

My name is Don Smith, COO of FlyPrivate – I’d love to tell you more about what we do differently so you can decide if it makes sense to explore what we do further.

Don’t worry – no sales pitch on my end. Just some basic
information you might want to consider and I’ll be happy to share more information about a new way to fly that has revolutionized
private jet use for companies like yours.

If you’re a bit intrigued, pick up the phone and give me a call at
(800) 641-5387 or send me an e-mail at dsmith@flyprivate.com.

I look forward to speaking with you!

Best,
